September 9th 2013. Pick Of The Day.

New York City's premiere resource for classic film screenings in the metropolitan area. Offering reviews, recommendations, venues and a host of links keeping classic film and the silver screens alive.

It's a good thing our movie-mad metropolis has stepped up its classic film screening activities of late, if for no other reason than this; I gotta wait a whole damn week to see episode 6 of BREAKING BAD's final season. And they left me HAAAAAAANGING last night!

Today's rep series include MoMA's Auteurist History of Film Reprise and BAM's Marlene Goes West. The whole shebang as follows;

Film Forum

CONTEMPT (1963) Dir; Jean-Luc Godard

BAM Cinematek

DESTRY RIDES AGAIN (1939) Dir; George Marshall

MoMA

PATHER PANCHALI (1955) Dir; Satyajit Ray

ATTACK! (1956) Dir; Robert Aldrich

Today's Pick? George Marshall's DESTRY RIDES AGAIN at BAM, starring James Stewart and Marlene Dietrich, the latter of whom serves as focus of the Cinematek's mini-fest. Why? 'Cause I'm still waiting to see what the boys in the back room ordered.

For more info on this and all the month's classic screenings please click the interactive calendar on the upper right hand side of the page. And be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter. Back tomorrow with a brand new Pick. Til then be safe and sound and make sure the next guy/gal is too!
