September 13th 2013. Pick Of The Day.
New York City's premiere resource for classic film screenings in the metropolitan area. Offering reviews, recommendations, venues and a host of links keeping classic film and the silver screens alive.

Nary a weak choice to be made this 13th of September, as the various rep houses populating our fair metropolis offer the debut of the Coen Brothers, Humphrey Bogart's lone Oscar-winning perf, and the current custodian of bragging rights as the BFI's best film all-time. Which it ain't. Bring it.
Ongoing series today include MoMA's Auteurist History of Film and Auteurist History of Film Reprise and Anthology Film Archives' John Zorn Selects. Today's lineup as follows;
IFC Center
TERMS OF ENDEARMENT (1983) Dir; James L. Brooks
BLOOD SIMPLE (1984) Dir; Joel and Ethan Coen

FOXY BROWN (1974) Dir; Jack Hill
Today's Pick? I'm actually passing up the sultry Kim Novak, the stimulating Brigitte Bardot, and the luminous Ingrid Bergman in favor of the quintessential 70's sex goddess in her most iconic role. Pam Grier stars as FOXY BROWN, who devours the men about her and takes names in the process, in Jack Hill's 1974 blaxploitation classic! Midnight at the awesome Nitehawk Cinema in follically festooned Williamsburg! Root beer and tater tots! Woo fekkin' hoo!
