October 30th 2013. Pick Of The Day.
New York City's premiere resource for classic film screenings in the metropolitan area. Offering reviews, recommendations, venues and a host of links keeping classic film and the silver screens alive.

One more slow day before the celluloid spookery unspools properly tomorrow night. Til then here be the ghastly unnervings to be found in our movie-maniacal metropolis. The incantation reads thusly;
Film Forum
NOSFERATU (1979) Dir; Werner Herzog
MoMA
THIS SPORTING LIFE (1963) Dir; Lindsay Anderson
Regal Union Square Stadium 14
THE SHINING (1980) Dir; Stanley Kubrick
Anthology Film Archives
THE WEREWOLF VERSUS THE VAMPIRE WOMAN (1970) Dir; Leon Klimovsky
THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED (1969) Dir; Narciso Ibanez Serrador
Today's Pick? I'm going with the twin bill (not a two-fer, I must point out) of Leon Klimovsky's THE WEREWOLF VERSUS THE VAMPIRE WOMAN and Narciso Ibanez Serrador's THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED, both inaugurating AFA's 12-night The Golden Age of Spanish Horror Cinema series. My reasons? Res ipsa loquitur, yer honor. Also, rraaaaaaaarrgggh.
For more info on these and all NYC's remaining classic screenings in October '13 click on the interactive calendar on the upper right hand side of the page. And be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter! Back tomorrow with treats fer yer plastic pumpkin Halloween bucket. Til then don't take any homemade peanut butter and jelly saltine sammiches from the cat lady, and advise others to follow suit! Cheers!
