December 9th 2013. Pick of the Day.

New York City's premiere resource for classic film screenings in the metropolitan area. Offering reviews, recommendations, venues and a host of links keeping classic film and the silver screens alive.

The rep circuit screenings were ubiquitous as rain over the weekend. Now the rain is as ubiquitous as rain. Ya take what ya get.

Today's lone series is Film Forum's month-long Barbara Stanwyck trib. The meager menu in full;

IFC Center

THEY LIVE (1988) Dir; John Carpenter

Film Forum

LADIES THEY TALK ABOUT (1933) Dir: Howard Bretherton

LADIES OF LEISURE (1930) Dir; Frank Capra

Today's Pick? Take a guess! The twin bill of LADIES THEY TALK ABOUT and LADIES OF LEISURE, unspooling at Film Forum and showcasing the great Stanwyck in all her moxified glory, easily snags top honors this December 9th. The former sees Babz turn a womens prison on its ear as an unruly inmate, while the latter finds her bad girl trying to go the straight and narrow in her first of five teamings with director Capra. It's a 2-fer, it's lousy outside, and the Forum boasts perhaps the best popped corn on the rep circuit. Need I sell this further?

Back on the morrow with more of what ya like, til then dress warm, take your vitamin C and carry a lotta Kleenex. Walsh out!
