Today's Pick? Well hell, there's a mighty competitive field to weigh against today.
But no yeah it's Kurosawa. Akira Kurosawa. And I can't think of a better way to kick off my annual Summer with Kurosawa than with this screening of what might be Kurosawa's finest 3+ hours. Have I dropped the name Kurosawa enough yet?
Akira Kurosawa's SEVEN SAMURAI unspools at BAM Cinématek today as part of the series All Hail the King: The Films of King Hu, in observance of one master's influence upon another. To which I say to both: Arigato.

P. S. Even though we're coming into the summer months and therefore not often as mindful of the displaced, some of our fellow NY'ers are yet to be made whole since Hurricane Sandy hit nearly two years ago. Check in with the good folks at Occupy Sandy to see if you can't still volunteer/donate to our neighbors in need. Be a mensch.
