October 23rd 2015. Pick of the Day.

New York City's premiere resource for classic film screenings in the metropolitan area. Offering reviews, recommendations, venues and a host of links keeping classic film and the silver screens alive.

Circumstances force me to be quite brief today, Stockahz, so let's test that whole "soul of wit" platitude, shall we?

New and continuing series thia day include FilmSchool 101: Canon Fodder at IFC Center, Modern Matinees: In the Beginning at MoMA, the still-going The Waking Dreams of Wojciech Has at BAM Cinématek, Justice in Film at the New York Historical Society, Unessential Cinema at Anthology Film Archives, and the Werewolf Bar Mitzvah Halloween at Nitehawk, at my beloved Nitehawk Cinema. Today's Pick? Carpenter's blueprint for 80's slasher horror, albeit itself so much more well-crafted and longer-lasting, is sold out, so I don't wanna repeat yesterday's mistake. I'm tempted to advocate for the Tarrytown Music Hall, as I feel their film program needs a good boost, but I've got a feeling this one's already a sell-out as well, and there's another cult-campy horror screening tonight during Halloween's month that doesn't often pop up in any programmer's rep sked. So let's cut to the chase.

The Chiodo brothers' KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE screens tonight in the spookily aptly monickered Owls' Head Park. In the also spookily aptly monickered borough of Brooklyn. Cotton candy is free, but ho boy, do you pay later.

P. S. The warmer, fiercer cuddle of the sun's sunnier disposition has begun its annual wane, but believe it or not some of our fellow NY'ers have still yet to be made whole in the wake of the 2012 storm. Should you be feeling charitable please visit the folks at OccupySandy.net, follow their hammer-in-hand efforts to restore people's lives, and donate/volunteer if you have the inclination and availability. Be a collective mensch, Stockahz!
