November 5th 2015. Pick of the Day.
New York City's premiere resource for classic film screenings in the metropolitan area. Offering reviews, recommendations, venues and a host of links keeping classic film and the silver screens alive.

Today's only continuing series are both at MoMA; Modern Matinees: The Film Library at Ten and To Save and Project: The 13th MoMA International Festival of Film Preservation. While it seems a paucity, every screening is a must and makes my decision quite the difficult one today. The DCP V. granular Gordian knottery be thus;
Film Forum
SPARTACUS (1960) Dir; Stanley Kubrick
MoMA
Modern Matinees: The Film Library at Ten
THE MALTESE FALCON (1941) Dir; John Huston
To Save and Project: The 13th MoMA International Festival of Film Preservation
CARNIVAL OF SOULS (1962) Dir; Herk Harvey
DEEP RED (1975) Dir; Dario Argento
Today's Pick? I'm goin' with the all-day hang at MoMA, an unofficial three-fer that includes Huston's FALCON to begin the day, and then Harvey's SOULS and Argento's DEEP RED to close it out. Sure it'll cost ya for all three separately, but it'll be worth it, and also all the more reason to plunk down the $85 for an annual membership that allows for as many free screenings as you can squeeze in on a yearly basis. Also, access to an actual museum that I hear, on good authority, is attached to the theaters. I must verify that rumor some day.

P. S. The warmer, fiercer cuddle of the sun's sunnier disposition has begun its annual wane, but believe it or not some of our fellow NY'ers have still yet to be made whole in the wake of the 2012 storm. Should you be feeling charitable please visit the folks at OccupySandy.net, follow their hammer-in-hand efforts to restore people's lives, and donate/volunteer if you have the inclination and availability.
